What we do
Millions of people have been educated about the importance of sun protection and early cancer detection through AAD’s SPOT Skin Cancer™ initiative.
For more than 25 years, the AAD has been offering young people ages 8-16 who have chronic skin conditions a summer camping experience unlike any they’ve had before.
Hikers across the globe are raising awareness and funds for the AAD SPOT Skin Cancer™ campaign, working to create a world without skin cancer.
The AAD provides grants to install permanent shade structures for outdoor locations that need protection from the sun, such as playgrounds, pools, or recreation spaces.
The AAD has several international programs that offer grants to Academy members who provide much-needed dermatologic care in underserved communities around the globe.
Through Resident Education Grants, the AAD ensures residents get off to a great start in their careers and as leaders of the specialty.
This teledermatology program provides patients in underserved communities with dermatologic care by facilitating safe and secure provider-to-provider dermatologic consults with an easy-to-use telemedicine platform.
This youth education campaign provides free resources to educators to teach children ages 8-10 and 11-13 about acne, skin health, and sun protection.
Through this AAD initiative, underrepresented medical students receive opportunities encouraging them to join the specialty, ultimately helping to increase diversity in dermatology.
Ways to give
“Our philanthropic support allows the AAD to go beyond what dues alone can accomplish. From camp for kids, to helping residents attend our meetings, our donations benefit both our specialty and the recipients.” - Stephen P. Stone, MD, FAAD
“I take comfort and pride in knowing that every month my gift is making a difference. Over time, this consistent support allows the AAD to continue the programs that mean the most to me.” - Bethanee Schlosser, MD, FAAD
“The opportunity to support important AAD programs and recognize an individual through that donation represents a wonderful way to pay tribute to an esteemed mentor and/or colleague.” - Kim B. Yancey, MD, FAAD
We welcome this year's generous donors and thank them for their commitment to advancing the programs and services of the Academy.View our AAD donors

Helping patients get access to the care they need is the core of what we do. Supporting a program like AccessDerm, which connects dermatologists with patients in underserved communities, is critical to ensuring they are receiving early detection and proper diagnosis, as well as appropriate treatments for their diseases.
