Member benefits

From residency to retirement, you can rely on us for premier educational opportunities, as a hub for innovation in patient care, and for the latest information impacting the specialty.

Advocacy

We advocate for dermatology, making sure your unique expertise is fairly valued by payers and understood by your colleagues in the house of medicine and offering you opportunities to make your voice heard.

So far in 2021, we have prevented dangerous expansions of non-physician scope of practice in several states and averted a 2% cut to Medicare payments through the end of the year.

Meetings

We offer a variety of opportunities to share your knowledge and ideas, network with leaders in specialty care, and discover the latest enhancements in patient care.

In 2020, as you faced with the prospect of a year without an educational meeting, the AAD created the Virtual Meeting Experience, ensuring dermatologists had a “place” to get the latest updates in their field. Don’t miss VMX 2021, open through Oct. 15! Or experience live education in Tampa Aug. 5-8 at the Summer Academy Meeting.

Practice management

You’re there for your patients; we’re here for you with programs and resources to help you achieve excellence in patient care by improving access and growing innovation.

On Jan. 1, 2021, the AMA rolled out coding updates that change how you document and code many patient encounters. The AAD continues to develop detailed guidance addressing member questions about how to use the new coding guidelines in practice.

CME

Created by dermatologists for dermatologists, our educational resources help you stay up to date on the latest treatments and procedures while furthering your professional development.

In 2020 the educational offerings included with your membership, including the Question of the Week, JAAD Case Reports Case Challenge, and JAAD quizzes, could earn you 62 CME credits. Learn more about how to earn free CME via JAAD quizzes.

Educating the public

The AAD has a robust public awareness program, with all of our efforts dedicated to making sure that the public understands the value of the care that you, a board-certified dermatologist, can provide. View a snapshot of the results so far in 2021.

The AAD recently launched a campaign to make the public aware of the Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology (FAAD) designation and associate it with the best dermatologic care available. Not using the FAAD logo yet? Learn more and download it.

These are just a few examples of the impact being an AAD member can have on you and your career in dermatology. Check out the latest issue of the Academy’s Impact Report to learn more.
