Member benefits

From residency to retirement, you can rely on us for premier educational opportunities, as a hub for innovation in patient care, and for the latest information impacting the specialty.

CME

Created by dermatologists for dermatologists, our educational resources help you stay up to date on the latest treatments and procedures while furthering your professional development.

The educational offerings included with your membership can earn you more than 60 CME credits annually. These offerings include the Question of the Week, JAAD quizzes, and more. Learn more about free CME and about our new Skin of Color Curriculum.

Advocacy

We advocate for dermatology, making sure your unique expertise is fairly valued by payers and understood by your colleagues in the house of medicine and offering you opportunities to make your voice heard.

Recently, we prevented dangerous expansions of non-physician scope of practice in several states and reduced an 8.5% cut to Medicare payments in 2023. We also won iPLEDGE relief and worked to address the lidocaine shortage.

Meetings

We offer a variety of opportunities to share your knowledge and ideas, network with leaders in specialty care, and discover the latest enhancements in patient care.

Learn more about the 2023 Innovation Academy in Tampa, Florida, and the 2024 Annual Meeting in San Diego.

Practice management

You’re there for your patients; we’re here for you with programs and resources to help you achieve excellence in patient care by improving access and growing innovation.

We offer you templated appeal letters in our popular Prior Authorization Appeal Tool. We also continue to develop updated guidance on new coding guidelines. Learn more about both!

The AAD’s preferred providers offer members practical, money-saving solutions for personal and professional stability. From discounts on medical, surgical, and front-office supplies to personal and financial protection, these preferred provider programs can be your solution for work and life.

Positioning the specialty

The AAD continues to score wins with a new, robust public awareness program, called Your Dermatologist Knows, dedicated to making sure that the public understands that board-certified dermatologists are the leading experts in conditions affecting skin, hair, and nails. You can learn more about the strategy and see examples of content at the Your Dermatologist Knows member hub.

These are just a few examples of the impact being an AAD member can have on you and your career in dermatology. Check out the latest issue of the Academy’s Impact Report to learn more.
