AAD launches successful 2022 Skin Cancer Awareness Month

The 2022 Melanoma Monday® launch was a resounding success! Within two days of the campaign’s launch, our media relations efforts resulted in more than 500 stories in a variety of media outlets across the country, including ABC7 Chicago and Today.com.

These stories were seen over 112 million times across various outlets and platforms. The Melanoma Monday campaign is part of the Academy’s broader Skin Cancer Awareness Month strategy, which also included the re-launch of the public Sun Protection Hub.

Additionally, on May 1, we kicked off our annual #PracticeSafeSun campaign on social media. The hashtag has been used more than 500 times on Instagram and Twitter and was seen more than 1.9 million times through the first half of the month. On Melanoma Monday, the Academy hosted an Instagram Live interview with Sara Moghaddam, MD, FAAD, discussing skin cancer detection and treatment.
