Members Making a Difference Award

The Members Making a Difference award is the highest honor that a member can receive in the Academy's Volunteer Recognition Program. The award is distributed quarterly to an AAD member, chosen based on the significance of the work he/she has done and the uniqueness of the volunteer activity. All nominees will remain on the selection list for up to three years.

Award: Each winner will be honored with a plaque at the Recognition Reception during the follow year's Annual Meeting and will be profiled in Aspire Magazine. 


  • Significant commitment of time, energy, and resources.
  • Significant benefit to others as a result of their volunteerism. 
  • Extraordinary/unique volunteer activity.
  • Volunteer work is non-compensated and outside the realm of a paid position.

Applications are accepted throughout the year.


The Academy's Member Recognition Committee reviews all completed nominations and selects 4 winners at the Annual Meeting in March. The recipients are notified several months before their announcement in Aspire Magazine.  No sitting member on the Member Recognition Committee can be selected to receive the award.
