American Academy of Dermatology Association Applauds Introduction of The Patients First Act Aimed at Medicare Physician Reform

Statement from Murad Alam, MD, MSCI, MBA, FAAD, President, American Academy of Dermatology Association

ROSEMONT, Ill. (July 15, 2026) — The American Academy of Dermatology Association applauds Academy member Representative John Joyce, MD, FAAD (R-PA), for introducing bipartisan, comprehensive Medicare physician payment reform legislation, the Patients First Act. The Academy also recognizes Representatives Kim Schrier, MD (D-WA), and Greg Murphy, MD (R-NC), for their leadership in introducing this important legislation and appreciates their steadfast commitment to modernizing the Medicare physician payment system.

Ongoing Medicare cuts and unchecked inflation are threatening physician’s ability to keep practices open and provide crucial care to patients. The reforms in the Patients First Act will strengthen the long-term sustainability of physician practices and help ensure patients continue to have access to high-quality medical care.
