JAAD impact factor remains no. 1 among dermatology journals

JAAD International moves up to No. 8

ROSEMONT, Ill. (June 17, 2026) — The Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology (JAAD) remains the top peer-reviewed journal in its field for the seventh straight year, according to the 2025 journal impact factor (JIF) rankings recently published by Clarivate’s Journal Citation Reports (JCR) Web of Science Group.

JAAD’s 2025 impact factor is 12.3 with 39,868 citations. This places JAAD in the No. 1 position among 99 dermatology-related journals ranked in this period. JAAD International (JAADi) has grown its impact factor to 6.5 with 1,519 citations, placing it at No. 8 up from No. 10 last year.

The JIF is a ratio which divides a journal’s received citations by a count of its published articles. It’s not a mathematical average, but it does provide an approximation of the mean citation rate for a typical article in a given time period, which for the 2025 JCR ranking is 2023-2024.

“The strength and quality of the JAAD Journals portfolio is evident in its abundant submissions, engaged readers, and of course the journal impact factor. We are indebted to the entire research ecosystem that supports the journals – researchers, authors, reviewers, and editors. With the ongoing support of the dermatology community, we remain dedicated to our mission of ‘helping dermatologists to improve patient outcomes’,” said board-certified dermatologist Dirk M. Elston, MD, FAAD, Editor-in-Chief of JAAD.

JAAD International was founded with the premise that global inclusivity and scientific rigor are complementary. This unprecedented impact factor ranking is only possible thanks to the hard work of our authors, our tireless reviewers, our editorial board, and the AAD and Elsevier teams that continue to make the JAAD Journals the top venue for scientific publishing in dermatology,” said board-certified dermatologist Jonathan Kantor, MD, MSc, MSCE, FAAD, Founding Editor of JAADi.
