ROSEMONT, Ill. (April 8, 2026) — The American Academy of Dermatology has announced the results of its annual election. The Academy’s new officers and board members will lead the world’s largest dermatologic society, representing more than 21,500 physicians who specialize in the diagnosis and medical, surgical, and cosmetic treatment of skin, hair, and nail conditions. These officers and board members, all of whom are board-certified dermatologists, will also hold the same position for the American Academy of Dermatology Association, a sister organization to the AAD that focuses on government affairs, health policy, and practice information.
Jane M. Grant-Kels, MD, FAAD, will be installed as president-elect in March 2027 and hold the office of president for one year beginning March 2028. Dr. Grant-Kels is a board-certified dermatologist and was the founding chair of the Department of Dermatology, founding director of the dermatopathology laboratory and founding director of the dermatology residency at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. She is now the vice chair of the Department of Dermatology, founder and co-director of the Cutaneous Oncology Center and Melanoma Program, a professor of dermatology, pathology, and pediatrics, and the associate dermatology residency program director at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine in Farmington, Connecticut, and an adjunct professor of dermatology at the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville, Florida. She earned her medical degree and completed both pediatrics and dermatology residencies at Cornell University Medical College, then completed a pathology fellowship at Bellevue Hospital Center and a dermatopathology fellowship at New York University Medical Center with A. Bernard Ackerman, all in New York City. Dr. Grant-Kels has served on a variety of AAD councils and committees and the AAD’s Board of Directors, is the deputy editor of the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, and a past vice president of the AAD.
Alice B. Gottlieb, MD, PhD, FAAD, will be installed as vice president-elect in March 2027 and hold the office of vice president for one year beginning March 2028. Dr. Gottlieb is a board-certified dermatologist who serves as a professor and the director of clinical trials in the Department of Dermatology at the UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. She earned her medical degree from Cornell University Medical College, completed her dermatology residency at New York Hospital, and earned a PhD in immunology from Rockefeller University, all in New York City. She is also board-certified in internal medicine and rheumatology. Dr. Gottlieb has served on a variety of AAD committees and the AAD Board of Directors.
Alexandra Flamm, MD, FAAD, Sandra Lee, MD, FAAD, Klint Peebles, MD, FAAD, and Lara Wine Lee, MD, PhD, FAAD, were elected to the Academy’s Board of Directors. They will each serve a four-year term beginning in March 2027. Angela Yen Moore, MD, FAAD, was elected to serve as the Nominating Committee Member Representative, effective immediately.
Alexandra Flamm, MD, FAAD, is a board-certified dermatologist who is an associate professor of dermatology and the residency program director at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine in New York City. Dr. Flamm earned her medical degree from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine and completed her dermatology residency at the SUNY Downstate Medical Center, both in New York City, and completed a dermatopathology fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. She has served on a variety of AAD committees and as a past vice president and president of the Pennsylvania Academy of Dermatology.
Sandra Lee, MD, FAAD, is a board-certified dermatologist and Mohs surgeon in private practice in California. Dr. Lee earned her medical degree at the Hahnemann School of Medicine in Philadelphia, completed a dermatology residency at the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield, Illinois, and completed a fellowship in cosmetic, laser, and surgical dermatology at Dermatology Associates in San Diego. She has been involved with the AAD’s Camp Discovery for children with chronic skin conditions. Dr. Lee is also a social media personality known as “Dr. Pimple Popper” and is the executive producer and star of the internationally-airing television series of the same name.
Klint Peebles, MD, FAAD, is a board-certified dermatologist in private practice in Washington, D.C. Dr. Peebles earned a medical degree from Vanderbilt University in Nashville and completed dermatology residency at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dr. Peebles has served on a variety of AAD committees, including as the current chair of the AAD’s Access to Dermatologic Care Committee, and is currently president-elect of the D.C. Medical Society and chair of the AMA Dermatology Section Council.
Lara Wine Lee, MD, PhD, FAAD, is a board-certified dermatologist who is division director and fellowship director of pediatric dermatology, director of clinical research, and a professor of pediatrics and dermatology at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. Dr. Wine Lee earned her MD and PhD at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, completed a pediatrics residency at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, a dermatology residency at the University of Pennsylvania, and a fellowship in pediatric dermatology at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. She has served on a variety of AAD committees and is a volunteer for the AAD’s Camp Discovery. Dr. Wine Lee currently serves as president-elect of the South Carolina Association of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery.
Angela Yen Moore, MD, FAAD, is a board-certified dermatologist in private practice in Arlington, Texas, an associate professor of dermatology at the University of North Texas Health Science Center School of Medicine and the Texas Christian University Burnett School of Medicine in Fort Worth, Texas, and a clinical assistant professor at the Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas and the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. Dr. Yen Moore earned her medical degree from the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and completed her dermatology residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. She has served on a variety of AAD committees and is a past president of the Texas Dermatology Society and the Dallas Fort Worth Dermatology Society.
