Accolades pile up for Academy publications
2025 was another strong year for Academy publications, which won a litany of professional awards and continued to lead the field in terms of impact and citations.
The July 2024 issue of DermWorld won the APEX Award in the highly competitive “Magazines, Journals, & Tabloids” category. DermWorld has received an APEX Award for nine consecutive years!
The AADA Advocacy Update also received an APEX Award in the “Newsletter” category. AAD publications won two awards among over 1,000 entries to the 2025 APEX Awards, which is an annual awards program recognizing excellence in publishing by professional communicators and judging is based on excellence in graphic design, editorial content, and the ability to achieve overall communications excellence.
The February 2025 edition of DermWorld was chosen as the best full issue of a non-profit medical journal at the Folio awards. Feature articles in two other issues, October 2024 and February 2025, were chosen as finalists, marking the 10th consecutive year DermWorld has been a Folio finalist.
Additionally, JAAD has retained the #1 position as the most impactful journal in dermatology according to the 2024 Clarivate Journal Impact Factor (JIF). JAAD is No. 1 in the field of dermatology for the sixth year in a row, with a JIF of 11.8 and 38,702 total citations.
But wait, there’s more! JAAD International (JAADi) has debuted at No. 10 in the field of dermatology, with a JIF of 5.2 and 1,046 total citations. This score breaks the record for the highest initial impact factor for any new dermatology journal.
Meanwhile, JAAD Reviews completed its first full year of publication in 2025 and was accepted for Scopus indexing. Additionally, the journal began collecting submissions for a virtual special issue (VSI) on Dermatologic Conditions in Skin of Color, while JAAD Case Reports began collecting submissions for a VSI on GLP-1 agonists and cutaneous disease.
