New measles resource center helps dermatologists manage outbreak

The Academy recently launched a Measles Resource Center, which was developed by the AAD’s Emerging Diseases Task Force to address the ongoing measles outbreak affecting parts of the U.S.
Since measles is a vaccine-preventable disease, many dermatologists did not encounter it during their training because it had been nearly eradicated. However, a drop in vaccination rates has resulted in an outbreak that is developing into a growing crisis.
The Measles Resource Center offers a plethora of important information for dermatologists, including background and history of measles, images of different stages of measles, resources on how to prepare your practice, and tips for discussing vaccinations with staff and patients.
