Tennessee legislation increases transparency
Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee (R) signed legislation limiting the use of medical specialty titles in advertisements.
The new state law requires any advertisement for health care services to include the name of a health care practitioner and the type of licensure or profession held. The AADA believes that all health care practitioners should be transparent regarding their degrees, certification, and licensure to their patients.
The AADA supported the Tennessee Dermatology Society through an AADA State Advocacy Grant and written comments.
