Diversity, equity, and inclusion partnership opportunity

The Academy’s goal is to increase access to high-quality dermatologic care. Our holistic Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Initiative is focused on closing the gap as it relates to delivering this care to racial and ethnic minorities. The AAD will expand impactful programs such as the Diversity Mentorship Program and the Diversity Champion Workshop and collaborate to increase Skin of Color (SOC) research and education, patient support, and diversity in the workforce pipeline.

The DEI plan has four primary goals that identify and address unintended and systemic barriers to access and care; that improve professional and patient education and research on SOC; that increase the pipeline of underrepresented minorities (URM) in the physician workforce; and that prioritize issues that affect minorities and advocate for marginalized populations.

DEI supporters are acknowledged inside and out of the Academy with multiple engagement and recognition opportunities each year of support, including the use of the AAD DEI partner icon (within Academy guidelines).
