The failure of the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS) to keep up with inflation is the greatest threat to maintaining seniors’ access to health care.

Physicians are at a breaking point – when adjusted for inflation, Medicare physician payment has declined 33% since 2001 while practice costs have soared. Physicians rely on Medicare payment to cover a multitude of practice expenses, and annual cuts to Medicare physician payment jeopardize their ability to keep the doors open and to care for patients in our communities.

The AADA awards several scholarships to residents who commit to year-long involvement in AADA grassroots advocacy. Following the Legislative Conference, AADA staff will follow up with award-winners to discuss a checklist of grassroots activities.
