Leave Moshi town at 8:30 a.m. and drive about 45 minutes to the Kilimanjaro National Park’s Marangu gate, located on the eastern side of Mount Kilimanjaro. Do the necessary paperwork at the park gate such as hiker registrations. Begin hiking at 9:30 a.m. from the park gate through the rainforest (6,000 ft.) and then on to Mandara Hut (9,000 ft.), which takes 3 to 4 hours. There will be a stop halfway to enjoy a box lunch and then continue hiking, reaching Mandara Huts around 1:30 p.m. After a tour of the huts, hike back down to the Marangu gate, arriving at about 4:45 p.m. On the way down, there will be a short side trip on foot to Maundi Crater (just 15 minutes away from Mandara Hut). This is a good way to see the surroundings as well as views of Kenya and Northern Tanzania. Return to Moshi, arriving in the evening around 6:45 p.m.

Price includes: Private transport to and from Moshi and the Marangu gate, guide and porter, park fees, rescue fees, box lunch, bottle of water and government tax.

Materuni coffee tour and waterfall - $115 per person

A day trip to Materuni village that includes a coffee tour followed by a visit to the Materuni waterfalls. This is a good place to experience the Chagga tribe lifestyle, and learn how coffee is grown (without chemical fertilizers), harvested and processed. Then enjoy a cup of coffee prepared the traditional Chagga way. Following the tour and a delightful coffee break, your guide will lead you on a hike to the Materuni waterfalls to take memorable pictures and enjoy a good view of Mount Kilimanjaro. Faculty disclosure of relevant financial relationship(s)

It is the policy of AAD that all faculty participating in an AAD educational activity are required to disclose to AAD and to learners relevant financial relationships that they or their first-degree relative (spouse, parent, sibling, or child) have with any commercial interest(s). “Relevant financial relationships”[1] include financial relationships in any amount occurring within the past 12 months that create a conflict of interest[2]. Typically, such relationships would be with companies that sell health care products or services that are consumed by or used in the treatment of patients. The intent of this disclosure is not to prevent participation in CME-certified educational activities by individuals with a relevant financial relationship with commercial interest(s), but rather to provide learners with information on which they can make their own determination whether or not said relationship(s) influenced the content of the educational activity.

Planner and faculty disclosure information will be communicated to learners in the syllabus distributed during the course.

    Resolution of conflicts of interest

In accordance with the ACCME Standards for Commercial Support of CME, the American Academy of Dermatology has implemented mechanisms, prior to the planning and implementation of this CME activity, to identify and mitigate conflicts of interest for all individuals in a position to control the content of this CME activity.
