Who should attend?

U.S. only dermatology residency faculty members and/or chairs who are highly motivated to implement and drive diversity initiatives within their institution.

Seating is limited. To ensure a well-balanced discussion, we request only one (1) faculty member registration per institution.

Join us prior to the Association of Professors of Dermatology Annual Meeting.

Explore this course

Address access to dermatologic care and health care disparities among minority populations by increasing the number of practicing dermatologists (academic and non-academic) who are under-represented minorities.

    Strategic objectives

    • Increase awareness of lack of diversity in dermatology and the causes of this disparity within the U.S.

    • Drive awareness among U.S. academicians of the important role residency programs have in improving the diversity of the dermatology workforce.

    • Facilitate the establishment and ongoing development of diversity outreach programs in U.S. dermatology residency programs towards medical students and college students, including education, mentorship, shadowing opportunities, sponsorship, research, and recommendation letters.

    • Increase knowledge of holistic review processes for U.S. dermatology residency applicants.

    • Provide resources to expand cultural competence among U.S. residency programs.

    Individuals attending the AAD Diversity Workshop will receive up to two (2) complimentary sleeping room nights the evenings of September 11 and 12 if they are faculty (or a representative) of a US dermatology residency program.
