Fellow membership

Fellow membership is offered to those individuals certified in dermatology by the American Board of Dermatology, Osteopathic Board of Dermatology, or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Fellows may display the AAD Fellow logo and designate themselves as Fellows of the American Academy of Dermatology (FAAD) in promotional materials and elsewhere.

Associate membership

The Associate membership category is for individuals who are eligible to take the American Board of Dermatology, Osteopathic Board of Dermatology, or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certifying examination(s) in dermatology. If you are planning to take the next Board examination(s) or have not yet been informed of your certification status, you should apply as an Associate.  Applicants for Associate membership will  automatically be changed  to a Fellow following receipt of the listing of physicians who have successfully  passed the American Board of Dermatology exam.  All others must provide proof of board certification in dermatology in order to change to Fellow.

Note: U.S. and Canadian dermatologists who are continuing training in a U.S. or Canadian fellowship program should not apply for membership. Have the program director contact the AAD so you may continue to receive complimentary graduate membership. Your complimentary graduate member status will continue through completion of your fellowship training.

Fellow or Associate electronic membership

An electronic-only membership option is available to dermatologists who reside in low to upper middle-income economies. The electronic option provides access to Academy membership benefits at over half the cost of the regular international dues. This membership offers the member rate for meeting attendance and product orders, and allows access to all online information, including the members-only section of the AAD website and the online Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology (JAAD). In addition, you will receive any member benefit that can be provided electronically. If you select electronic membership, you will not receive faxes or printed materials, including JAADDermatology World, and the Annual Meeting program. However, you will be able to access these publications online.
