Toni’s personal story

Spot Logo
I watched that light brown spot on my leg for months and month—maybe even a couple years.  Skin Cancer crossed my mind and I did some research.  I found lots of pictures of melanoma and compared them to my leg. I thought, "I'm fine because it looks nothing like those ugly pictures."  One day, I showed it to my family doctor just for the heck of it.  She recommended I see a dermatologist and before you know it, I was having surgery to remove a malignant melanoma pushing the border from stage 1 to stage 2.  Had I waited until the spot on my leg looked like those pictures, I probably wouldn't have survived. So can someone please tell me why those brochures don't show what melanoma looks like in stage 1 when it's at it's most treatable and more lives could be saved?
