W001 - Hands-on: Scar Revision and Wound Repair

Learning Objectives

Following this course, the attendee should be able to:

  • Perform a z-plasty and perform geometric broken line closure.
  • Repair ectropion
  • Restore melolabial fold

Description

This session is geared towards dermatologic surgery fellows in-training and dermatologists with advanced surgical experience. Key elements of scar assessment, and optimal design and execution of surgical revision for free margin distortion, webbing, contracture, and hypertrophic scars will be reviewed in didactic format. Participants will have ample opportunity for realistic hands-on practice with cadaveric arms and heads. The Participants will complete a pre- and post-assessment of procedural skills covered in this session. This activity has been approved by the American Board of Dermatology (ABD) for up to 30 MOC Component 2 Self-Assessment credits.
