U020 - MACRA, MIPS, and Advanced APMs
Saturday, July 28; 7:30 AM - 8:30 AM
Following this course, the attendee should be able to:
- Recognize that every dermatologist can easily achieve a bonus under MIPS, even if not using a certified EHR.
- Describe the criteria for and the benefits of being a qualified participant in an advanced alternative payment system.
In 2017, over 98% of dermatologists were subject to MIPS which provides bonuses and penalties for "quality" performance. Dermatologists should not merely aim to avoid the penalties, but should realize that they can easily perform and report measures they are already doing or can very readily implement. There is no reason every dermatologist should not get a bonus under MIPS! Alternatively, the benefits and requirements of being in an advanced APM will be discussed. We will highlight other provisions of MACRA that directly affect your practice, as well as the AAD's response to MACRA and AAD's helpful, easily available resources.
