Learning Objectives

Following this course, the attendee should be able to:

  • Develop clinical pearls to accurately and effectively diagnose complex medical dermatology diseases using cutaneous features
  • Identify appropriate ancillary investigations to guide diagnosis and management of complex medical dermatology diseases
  • Formulate a management plan using the latest data in the literature, including use of systemic medications and toxicity monitoring, and collaborating with other specialties


Many patients present with challenging disease manifestations posing diagnostic and therapeutic dilemmas. Using a case-based approach emphasizing audience participation, this session will highlight clinical pearls and pitfalls to appropriately diagnose and treat these complex medical diseases. Management strategies based on the latest data from the literature will be reviewed, particularly regarding the use of systemic medications and toxicity management. As well, the potential of multidisciplinary collaboration with other specialties will be emphasized.
