U036 - Respect the Dormant Beast - Optimize Your Management of High-Risk Cutaneous SCCs

Saturday, February 17; 7:30 AM - 8:30 AM

Learning Objectives

Following this course, the attendee should be able to:

  • Recognize clinical and histological features of high-risk cSCCs and challenges in staging cSCC properly.
  • Identify multiple opportunities for dermatologists to improve management of high-risk cSCCs.
  • Formulate effective, evidence-based, case-specific management plans for high-risk cSCCs.

Description

Approximately 5% of cutaneous SCCs (cSCCs) harbor high-risk features. The rate of nodal metastasis and disease-specific death for cSCCs are 4% and 1.5%, respectively. This session, designed for general dermatologists and dermatologic surgeons, will discuss clinical and histological features of high-risk cSCCs, challenges in staging cSCC properly by incorporating newly released AJCC 8th edition staging system, and quality improvement opportunities for dermatologists to improve management of high-risk cSCCs. Participants will also learn how to select effective, evidence-based, case-specific management plans for patients with high-risk cSCCs.
