Learning Objectives

Following this course, the attendee should be able to:

  • Recognize the best dermatopathologic approach to cutaneous neoplasia.
  • Distinguish benign from malignant neoplasms.
  • Identify the lineage of the neoplasm.

Description

This half day course will cover a range of cutaneous neoplasms, both benign and malignant, of various lineages. Clinical pathologic correlation, differential diagnosis, and the algorithmic method using pattern analysis will be reviewed. Various special stains, immunoperoxidase stains and molecular pathology techniques will be reviewed for each topic where appropriate. At the end of the session the audience should have a good grasp of neoplasms that impact the skin in preparation for certification examinations and clinical practice.
