Learning Objectives:
Following this course, the attendee should be able to:

  • Correctly perform diagnostic biopsies on EB patients
  • Outline what genetic testing and prenatal diagnosis is available for EB
  • Develop a plan for EB care in the newborn period and for adults with EB

Diagnosis in EB requires a specialized technique for inducing a fresh blister for biopsy and IF mapping at specialized labs. There will be updates on current management topics including genetic testing, management in the neonatal period, multidisciplinary management in adults with EB, and squamous cell carcinoma. How to manage the special relationship which develops over many years between EB patients, their families and their doctors will be discussed.
