Idea to Reality: Getting things Done

Following this course, the attendee should be able to:
- Discuss the challenges of getting things done and introduce project management tools to help facilitate project success.
- Apply project management tools using case study examples and formulate a plan for projects outside of the session.
Have a great idea you want to implement? As busy professionals we need to get things done but most of us have not been given specific tools for seeing a project through from beginning to end. We will borrow from the business world and demonstrate "project management" tools which can help in initiating, organizing, and motivating others to complete projects. Examples could be as diverse as planning an initiative to change tanning bed legislation, working with a medical student or resident on a research project or case report. Constructive tools will be presented to help with defining scope, time lines, milestones, and deliverables to get projects done. This will be a workshop format: during the session, participants will have the opportunity to utilize and apply project management tools to their own or case-study examples.
