FOC U068 - Alternative and Complementary Medicine in Dermatology: An Evidence-Based Approach

Open admission to eligible categories, no tuition or ticket

Date: Tuesday, March 25

CME Credits: 1.50

Location: Room 205

Time: 7:15 AM - 8:45 AM

Director: Peter A. Lio, MD, FAAD - Handout

Learning Objectives:
Following this course, the attendee should be able to:

  • Identify common alternative and complementary medications used for skin problems.
  • Evaluate treatments and interventions that have been shown to help and those shown to be of no benefit in randomized controlled trials.
  • Propose treatments based on the evidence for select patients.

This session provides a broad introduction to some of the complementary and alternative medicine that many patients use and discuss. We then examine the literature for evidence of efficacy on dermatologic problems. The target audience is practitioners who care for patients with skin disease and are interested in learning more about alternative treatments that their patients use or ask about.
