Learning Objectives:
Following this course, the attendee should be able to:

  • Define relevant pathogenetic mechanisms of both diseases
  • Diagnose pemphigoid and pemphigus more effectively.
  • Formulate the best treatment of pemphigoid and pemphigus

We should evaluate the latest information on the immunopathogenetic mechanisms of pemphigoid and pemphigus as a way to establish the rationale for the therapy of these diseases. The established and the newer treatment modalities of these autoimmune diseases will be presented. The role of topical and systemic steroids, immunossuppresive drugs, intravenous immunoglobulins and anti-CD20 antibodies will be reviewed considering effectiveness and price. At the end of this session the audience will be able to identify the best therapies for their patients.
