Date: Saturday, March 02

CME Credits: 1.50

Location: Room D235/236

Time: 7:15 AM - 8:45 AM

Learning Objectives:
Following this course, the attendee should be able to:

  • Discuss the diversity of dermatology training and practice in different countries.
  • Recognize how non dermatological factors like culture and socioeconomic status can affect the practice of dermatology in a given country.
  • Identify the various dermatoses present in different skin types, how stark the presentation can be and how they are dealt with in resource poor settings.

This session will highlight how fascinating clinical dermatology can be in a country that boasts a vibrant association of dermatovenereoleprologists (IADVL) that battles constantly with non-medical problems like such as poverty, lack of awareness and slack administration, and yet has succeeded in making waves internationally in almost all areas of dermatology. Attendees will gain insight on the impact of socioeconomic and cultural factors in dermatology practice, and become aware of some enviable clinical skills practiced by Indian dermatologists. Rare cases will form a thick icing on the cake!
