Learning Objectives:
Following this course, the attendee should be able to:

  • Analyze the impact on dermatology practices of impending health system delivery and payment reforms
  • Begin to prepare for upcoming mandates for EMR adoption, as well as quality measurement and reporting

With the Affordable Care Act and countless other forces impacting health care delivery, our specialty of dermatology faces substantial changes in the decade ahead. This forum will address some of the most important challenges and opportunities we face, including: Maintaining financial viability in spite of Medicare's physician payment instability; Fitting in to ACOs and other evolving care delivery models; Adapting to electronic medical records; Defining appropriateness criteria for our treatments and interventions; Demonstrating our value through quality measures and reporting; and Defining a research agenda for the specialty's future.
