Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS)

In 2016, dermatologists, NPs, and PAs should have participated in the Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS) to avoid up to a 6 percent penalty on Medicare Part B payments. PQRS was created for Medicare to address value-based payment and encourage providers to report information on the quality of care to CMS.

To participate, providers were required to report at least nine quality measures that covered at least three of the National Quality Strategy Domains, one of which must have been a cross-cutting measure.

In 2017, the PQRS reporting program will be sunset. Instead, EPs will need to determine how the MACRA rule will impact reimbursement. Learn more about what you need to do to prepare for 2017 reporting.
