The Academy recently received exciting news about its clinical data registry, DataDerm™. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has approved DataDerm as a 2017 Qualified Clinical Data Registry (QCDR) for the Quality Payment Program (QPP), commonly known as MACRA. DataDerm has also been approved as a Qualified Registry for 2017.

So, what does this mean for you?

The QCDR designation will expand the 2017 reporting options available to eligible clinicians for the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) by providing DataDerm participants additional dermatology-specific measures—developed by the Academy—to choose from.

The QCDR designation will allow DataDerm participants to submit data on all 22 MIPS dermatology-specific or dermatology-applicable measures within the registry. In addition, the designation allows for five additional dermatology-specific measures that can only be reported through DataDerm. As a result, DataDerm will offer dermatologists greater options to complete MIPS in the most meaningful way for your practice, patient population, and the specialty.

In addition, as an active participant in DataDerm, you have the opportunity to submit attestations to automatically earn credit in the new MIPS Improvement Activities component.

What measures are available for reporting through DataDerm?

The QCDR designation allows DataDerm users to report more dermatology specific measures that best fit their practice. DataDerm offers 22 MIPS measures, seven of which are AAD developed measures. Additionally, five AAD developed, derm-specific measures are also available for MIPS reporting. These five measures are referred to as QCDR measures and are only available for reporting through DataDerm.
