I’ve found that my patients look to their cell phones for information and new services more than ever. That’s why I became one of the early subscribers to the Academy’s new Dermatology A to Z mobile app. The app launched in July and can be found in the Google Play or Apple App store as a free download.
As a credible, accurate, and up-to-date source for health care information about skin, hair, and nails, the Academy’s free app provides my patients with instant access to dermatologist-approved information, expert insights, and tips.
The days of looking up doctors in the phone book have passed, and the A to Z app provides Academy members with a new way to grow our patient bases.
It also provides convenient access to skin care and health information from the AAD’s online public resource, Dermatology A to Z. Patients also have access to local, real-time UV levels, monthly skin-care tips from dermatologists, as well as the latest news about skin, hair, and nails. It also helps them determine when they should seek the expertise of a board-certified dermatologist.
In addition, the app provides potential patients with the ability to find dermatologists by name or location quickly and easily through the Find a Dermatologist feature, which makes it a powerful marketing tool.
My premium-level Dermatology A to Z app profile helps me market my practice to potential new patients.
As we all know, there’s a great need for new, innovative marketing opportunities to cultivate new patients. The days of looking up doctors in the phone book have passed, and the A to Z app provides Academy members with a new way to grow our patient bases.
For us as physicians, the app can be used to enhance our marketing efforts. AAD members are pre-populated in the Find a Dermatologist section of the app as a member benefit. In addition, the app offers dermatologists a premium-level opportunity to showcase their practices in the Find a Dermatologist section of the app with a customized, full-featured, interactive Web listing, which includes:
- Your photo and professional background.
- GPS map and driving directions to your office.
- Link to your website and phone number.
- Direct access to your Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn pages.
To sign up for the premium level or for more information, AAD members can go to www.aad.org/DermAtoZapp.
