Dermatologists and patient advocates from across the country will join together in Washington, D.C., for the 2014 AADA Legislative Conference and present a united voice to Congress about dermatology’s most pressing issues.

The AADA 2014 Legislative Conference will take place on Sept. 7-9, in the heart of Washington, D.C. at the Grand Hyatt Washington Hotel. The conference offers the unique opportunity to hear from health policy experts, discuss dermatology issues with colleagues, attend advocacy training taught by D.C. insiders, and become the trusted and influential voice your members of Congress can rely on.

Conference speakers announced!

Conference attendees learn about critical health policy issues from national health policy experts and political insiders. The AADA has secured the following speakers for this premier event:

  • Bob Woodward, author and associate editor, Washington Post
  • Charlie Cook, editor and publisher, The Cook Political Report and a political analyst for the National Journal Group and NBC News 
  • Rep. Michael Burgess, MD (R-TX), Vice-Chair,Energy & Commerce Committee’s Subcommittee on Health

Legislative Conference participants have the opportunity to learn about the issues, get expert advice on how to get your message heard by legislators, and meet directly with members of Congress and their staff to voice dermatology’s concerns.

The 2014 AADA Legislative Conference will take place Sept. 7-9, 2014, at the Grand Hyatt Washington Hotel in Washington, D.C. Rooms are available at the conference rate for $249 plus tax per night.

Attendees must make their own travel arrangements and cover their own costs for travel to, and lodging during, the conference. Although, AAD staff will make attendees hotel reservations and send confirmations closer to the meeting. The AADA will provide meals and snacks during the event.

The AADA awards several scholarships to residents who commit to year-long involvement in AADA grassroots advocacy. Past award-winners have stayed active by participating in grassroots email campaigns, meeting with their district Congressional offices, and actively participating in AADA advocacy-focused teleconferences. Following the Legislative Conference, AADA staff will follow up with award-winners to discuss a checklist of grassroots activities.
