About VMX

Q: What is AAD VMX?

AAD VMX is a virtual meeting experience for dermatology professionals. The virtual meeting consists of 80 robust scientific sessions. Access to the on-demand presentations begins Friday, April 23 at 8 a.m. CT and concludes Sunday, April 25 at 2:30 p.m. CT. It will include live components such as Q&A’s with the faculty. Attendees can visit the virtual exhibit hall, view over 800 e-Posters, and network with colleagues in lounges. There will also be innovative industry-sponsored sessions scheduled throughout the program. In addition, interactive gaming opportunities, the most-popular DermTales, as well as some fun activities and entertainment during break times will be offered.

AAD VMX will offer over 75 AMA PRA Category 1 CME creditsTM. All content will be available on-demand through July 12, 2021.

Q: When is AAD VMX?

AAD VMX will launch Friday, April 23, 8 a.m. CT and will have live components scheduled through Sunday, April 25, 2:30 p.m. CT. All content will be available on-demand through July 12, 2021.

Q: When does access to the on-demand content end?

Access to the on-demand content will end July 12, 2021.

Q: What time zone will the content be offered?

The official time zone of AAD VMX will be Central Time (CT).

Q: What is the official language of the meeting?

The official language of AAD VMX is English.


Q: When does registration open? Does registration close?

Registration for AAD VMX will open on Monday, March 1 at 9 a.m. CT. The deadline to register is Monday, June 28, 2021.

As a reminder, the live components will take place April 23-25, 2021.

Q: How do I register for AAD VMX?

Registration must be completed online at with credit card payment. Visa, MasterCard, and American Express will be accepted. Wire transfers and checks will not be accepted for payment.

Q: What are the registration fees?

  • AAD Member: $399

  • Resident/Student: $199

  • AAD DermCare Team: $399

  • Non-Member: $599

Q: Is registration to AAD VMX refundable?

No, AAD VMX registration is non-refundable. Content is available online to all purchasers through July 12, 2021, 11:59 p.m. CT. If a registrant is unable to participate, fees cannot be transferred or applied to any other AAD product or membership affiliated program.

Name changes are not allowed; registration is non-transferable.

Q: Can I share access to AAD VMX with my colleagues in my practice?

No, individual registration is required to access the content in AAD VMX. Only the purchaser can access AAD VMX and is the only person who can claim CME for AAD VMX.

Q: Can I register more than one person at a time?

Group registration is available for groups of 20 or more. More details to come.

Q: I’m presenting a session during AAD VMX. Do I have to pay a registration fee?

Yes, all speakers are expected to register and pay the registration fee.

Q: What types of sessions will be featured on AAD VMX?

AAD VMX has lined up robust dermatologic content and scientific sessions to keep you on the forefront of the specialty. AAD VMX will include:

  • Eighty scientific sessions covering topics such as therapeutics, cosmetics, psoriasis, hair disorders, and more.

  • One late breaking research session and over 800 e-Posters covering the latest in dermatologic research.

  • Plenary session featuring: President’s address, Immediate past President’s address, named lectureships, and a keynote speaker

  • Five resident sessions: Gross & Microscopic, Resident & Fellows, Resident Jeopardy, Conquer the Boards: An Experiential Review & Basic Self-Assessment: Slide Review and Discussion

  • Ten industry sessions (Not applicable for CME credit)

Q: How much CME credit can I earn by participating in AAD VMX?

Attendees can earn over 75 CME credits.

Attendees will claim CME similarly to any online activity and should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation. *Only the registrant of AAD VMX can claim credit.

Q: Can I claim Maintenance of Certification (MOC) credit during AAD VMX?

Yes, any session that includes polling is approved for MOC Self-Assessment Credits.

Q: I’m an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN), can I claim CME credit?

The AAD isn’t certified to provide nursing credits, but you can register for the event and submit applicable credits to the respective licensing board for acceptance.

Q: When will sessions be available on-demand?

All sessions will be available starting Friday, April 23 at 8 a.m. CT and can be accessed until July 12, 2021. If you miss the live event we will add the Q&A portions to the sessions for you to listen in later on.

Q: Can I re-watch sessions after I’ve claimed CME credit?

Yes, you can re-watch any or all of the on-demand sessions in AAD VMX before the platform closes on July 12, 2021.


Q: What types of exhibitors will be participating in AAD VMX?

The AAD offer virtual exhibit space for products and services in the following categories:

  • Pharmaceuticals (both prescription and nonprescription)

  • Equipment and devices designed for diagnosis or treatment of dermatologic conditions

  • Cosmetics and skin care

  • Scientific/medical educational publications

  • Activities of professional and educational organizations

  • Products or services relating to the support of non-medical aspects of the practice of dermatology (office equipment, record keeping equipment or services, etc.)

  • Physician recruitment and placement services

  • Research survey activities, in conjunction with confirmed exhibiting companies

Q: How many exhibitors will be participating in AAD VMX?

Approximately 40 companies will be participating in the AAD VMX Virtual Exhibits.

Q: Will I have the ability to communicate directly with exhibitors and arrange appointments?

All companies will have the option to be contacted by message. Some companies will also offer enhanced options to schedule a meeting, or participate in live chats, or Zoom meetings.

Q: Will there be an AAD booth?

Yes, there will be the AAD Resource Center, JAAD, and Recognition Lounge booths during AAD VMX.

Q: What is the AAD Talent Show?

AAD VMX 2021 registrants can submit a one minute video to be viewed on the platform by all attendees. Video submissions are due by March 31, and can be sent to

Q: Will all videos be accepted for the AAD Talent Show?

No, the AAD will need to review the videos and approve. Entries may not contain medical or cosmetic procedures, use of lasers, profanity, nudity, pornographic images, violent images, anti-competitive messages, illegal material, material that violates the rights of third parties, or any other materials that is in violation of any federal, state, or local laws.

Q: Are there prizes for the AAD Talent Show?

No, this is a just for fun event, however those who submit will get additional leaderboard points.

Q: What is the AAD Happy Hour?

The AAD will host a live happy hour from 6-7 p.m. CT on Saturday, April 24, 2021 in the VMX platform. There will be seven different activity rooms to visit.
