Maintenance of Certification (MOC) is an educational and professional development program designed to assess physician competence. The requirements and regulations are managed by the American Board of Dermatology. For U.S. physicians, MOC emphasizes continuous improvement and lifelong continuing professional development (CPD). Under the ABD's MOC 10-year cycle system, board-certified dermatologists must participate in relevant continuing medical education (CME) activities, periodic self-assessment, and evaluation of performance in practice, and assessment of cognitive expertise.
MOC helps physicians assess and build their competency in six core areas: patient care, medical knowledge, practice-based learning, systems-based practice, professionalism, and interpersonal and communications skills.
The Academy is committed to helping you fulfill MOC requirements and has many resources to help you do so, many of which are free. Below is a list of activities and resources offered by the Academy.
