SkinPAC helps advance dermatology's advocacy agenda
Bookmark and Share

Since its founding in 2000, SkinPAC, the American Academy of Dermatology Association’s political action committee, has helped the specialty to advance its legislative agenda, ensuring that the concerns of dermatologists and their patients are heard in the halls of Congress. SkinPAC raised $2,923,465 during its first five election cycles, and last year, the first year of the 2011-2012 cycle, broke a record by raising $468,404.

AADA President Daniel M. Siegel, MD, has pledged that if SkinPAC is able to build on that success and raise $1 million for the 2012 election cycle by the Summer Academy Meeting, being held Aug. 15-19 in Boston, he will allow his head and beard to be shaved on stage during the plenary session. Anyone who has contributed the maximum amount — $5,000 per year — will be offered a swipe of the razor.
