Speaker Ryan: Expect action on ACA within first 100 days

Jan. 12, 2017
House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) says that he anticipates action on repealing and replacing the ACA within the first 100 days of President-elect Donald Trump's term. Speaker Ryan discussed the fate of the ACA at a CNN Town Hall meeting at George Washington University. In addition to discussing a timeline for repeal, he stated that a replacement for the health care law would likely provide coverage for patients with pre-existing conditions. Additionally, he indicated that the House Republican replacement plan would allow individuals to receive refundable tax credits to purchase a plan that's right for them, and that Health Savings Accounts would be a “critical piece” of an ACA replacement.
