Partnering with the AAD

Through the following educational and life-saving programs, the American Academy of Dermatology is proud to make a meaningful difference every day in the lives of physicians, patients, and the public.

Supporting the specialty

The Academy supports its members and the specialty through education, tools, and resources that help them reach their ultimate goal of serving their patients.

Annual and Summer Meetings
Over 10,000 medical personnel attend the Annual Meeting and 1,300 attend the Summer Academy Meeting – offering great visibility. In addition, the AAD offers the opportunity to host Promotional Information Programs (PIPs) at both meetings. The President’s Gala also offers sponsorship opportunities that will be seen by Academy members.

Continuing Medical Education and Independent Medical Education
The AAD received accreditation with commendation from the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) in November 2012. An established programming of educational activities that is fair, balanced, objective, evidence-based, and free of commercial bias is provided to members and physicians.

Leadership Institute
Preparing our members to be leaders in the medical arena and in their own communities is paramount to ensuring the continued success of the specialty.

New programs and initiatives
The Academy can work with supporters to identify and create alternative programs tailored to meet specific goals. For example, printing and co-branding clinical guideline derivatives on specific topics.

Supporting patients and the public

Educating the public on skin, hair, and nail health and the critical role dermatologists have in maintaining healthy lives is a prime example of the Academy's outreach efforts. Sponsorships, cause-marketing partnerships, and public awareness campaigns with our Corporate Partners on the following programs ensure our success.

SPOT Skin Cancer™
The Academy's signature program provides an overarching framework for our public awareness, education, outreach, and humanitarian programs on prevention and detection of skin cancer. Through these initiatives, the Academy grants shade structures, provides access to free skin cancer screenings, and creates awareness through educational campaigns like Melanoma Monday® and other public service announcements.
