Zoe D. Draelos, MD, FAAD, elected vice president of the American Academy of Dermatology
SCHAUMBURG, ILL. (April 19, 2010) —Zoe. D. Draelos, MD, FAAD, a High Point, N.C., dermatologist, has been elected vice president of the American Academy of Dermatology (Academy), the world’s largest dermatologic society, representing more than 16,000 physicians specializing in the diagnosis and medical, surgical and cosmetic treatment of conditions of the skin, hair, and nails. In addition, Dr. Draelos will hold this same position for the American Academy of Dermatology Association. She will be installed as vice president-elect in February 2011 and will hold the office of vice president for one year beginning in March 2012.
Dr. Draelos is a consulting professor of dermatology at Duke University School of Medicine, Durham, N.C. She earned a medical degree from the University of Arizona, Tucson. Dr. Draelos also completed an internal medicine internship and dermatology residency at the University of Arizona.
She is a past member of the Academy’s board of directors and the current chair of the council on communications. She also is chair of the pamphlets editorial board and a member of several committees.
Dr. Draelos is editor-in-chief of the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology. She has written eight dermatology textbooks, 32 book chapters, and more than 300 scientific articles. She has served as president of the North Carolina Dermatology Association and as a member of the board of directors of the American Society for Dermatology Surgery.
