SCHAUMBURG, Ill. (March 23, 2011) —
The American Academy of Dermatology (Academy) recently launched its redesigned website, www.aad.org. The new design optimizes access to dermatologic health information for the public and the media, and provides extensive resources and tools for member dermatologists.
The redesigned website offers easily accessible and expanded information about dermatology, and gives the public expert insights into the care and treatment of the skin, hair and nails for a lifetime of healthy habits, including:
- Dermatology A to Z, which highlights signs and symptoms, common causes, diagnosis and treatment, and management tips for a variety of dermatologic conditions.
- Quick links to find a dermatologist and free skin cancer screenings.
- Downloadable tips and worksheets about skin cancer detection and prevention, including how to conduct a skin self-examination and a body mole map to track suspicious spots.
“The Academy’s website is a one-stop shop for skin, hair and nail health information from medical experts — dermatologists,” stated dermatologist Ronald L. Moy, MD, FAAD, president of the Academy. “The site is a comprehensive resource filled with tips and tools to help visitors make informed decisions about their dermatologic health and to find a medical doctor who can diagnose and treat their skin, hair and nail concerns.”
In addition, the site is the Academy’s fastest-growing tool for disseminating information to its members and the media. Members have immediate access to a variety of resources which address evidence-based patient care, continuing medical education, practice management and advocacy.
The media section of the website provides reporters and editors with statistics and facts, news releases and press kits. In addition, journalists can sign up for the RSS feed to receive updates when news is posted by the Academy.
The Academy’s website receives more than 300,000 unique visitors per month and is listed as a resource on several popular health websites.
