• Free skin cancer screening program

  Since 1985, Academy member dermatologists have volunteered their time and expertise to offer free skin cancer screenings to the public.

• Melanoma Monday®

  Since 1995, the Academy has designated the first Monday in May as Melanoma Monday®, which officially kicks off Melanoma/Skin Cancer Detection and Prevention Month®.

• Shade Structure Grants

  Since 2000, the Academy’s Shade Structure Grant Program has awarded grants for shade structures to schools, parks, and other similar organizations that serve children and have a commitment to sun safety.

• Public service advertisements

  Every two years, the Academy produces and distributes a new public service advertising campaign to educate the public about skin cancer prevention and detection.
