My husband had a mole on his right arm that started to water. He was diagnosed with stage IV melanoma in July 2007. He had surgery and was told, "We got it all!" In December 2008, it came back. He had surgery again and again and again. He passed away in January 2012 after 17 surgeries, five kinds of chemotherapies and five rounds of radiation. He never gave up until he took his last breath. He died here in our house where he wanted to be. We had never heard of melanoma.
He was the bravest man I have ever known. He was raised on a ranch, worked in the oil field for 35 years and was an avid fisherman. We had never heard of melanoma. He was 58 years old when he passed away. We were married for 27 years. I miss him more every day. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.
