Learning Objectives:
Following this course, the attendee should be able to:

  • Recognize normal vulvar anatomy and normal variants.
  • Develop a first line treatment approach to vulvar lichen sclerosus and lichen planus.
  • Anticipate and respond to challenges encountered when managing vulvar lichen sclerosus and lichen planus.

Description:
Treating vulvar skin disease is within the purview of the dermatologist but often approached with trepidation due to limited exposure during training. Lichen sclerosus and lichen planus are two important vulvar diseases. This session is aimed at increasing the comfort in diagnosing and managing these diseases. Dermatologists new to vulvar disease will hone their recognition of the normal vulva and its variants and establish first line therapeutic approaches. Dermatologists experienced in vulvar disease will be able to reevaluate their current treatment regimens and utilize challenging cases to expand their therapeutic armamentarium and management skills.
