Learning Objectives:
Following this course, the attendee should be able to:

  • Summarize new developments in cosmeceutical care for the skin, hair, and nails.
  • Identify problems that can be corrected by proper skin, hair, and nail care regimens
  • Assess the value of skin, hair, and nail care formulations

Description:
This session examines over-the-counter skin, hair, and nail care formulations important to the dermatologist. The discussion will begin with an overview of cleansers and moisturizers followed by an analysis of new technologies in the cosmeceutical realm to include stem cells, minerals, cellulite creams, glycans, and aquaporins. Cosmetic issues related to hair care and an evaluation of hair dyes will be presented. Finally, new nail cosmetics including shellacs will be discussed. The goal of this session is to update the dermatologist on new developments in the cosmetic realm.
