Following this course, the attendee should be able to:
- Distinguish between different types of psychodermatological disorders.
- Optimally manage delusional patients.
- Use selected psychodermatological medications.
This session gives an overview of psychodermatology for dermatological providers. It will cover delusions of parasitosis, factitial dermatitis, neurotic excoriations, prurigo nodularis/lichen simplex chronicus, psychophysiological disorders (bona fide skin conditions that are worsened by emotional stress), cutaneous dysesthesias, etc. Both the optimal approach to patients and the use of selected psychodermatological agents will be covered.
