Following this course, the attendee should be able to:
- Recognize unique and common presentations of facial dermatoses
- Develop management strategies for diverse facial dermatoses
Description:
This session will focus on the management of facial dermatoses. We will discuss identification of allergens in facial allergic contact dermatitis and describe strategies for avoidance of allergens. The differentiating characteristics and treatment options for acne, pityrosporum folliculitis, demodex dermatitis, and rosacea will be considered. We will describe facial exam findings associated with autoimmune connective tissue diseases and define therapy for cutaneous lupus and the cutaneous features of dermatomyositis. In addition, attendees will recognize facial dermatoses in skin of color patients and examine cultural practices and their role in facial dermatoses.
