  • 2. Discuss the major patient safety issues in medical and procedural dermatology
  • 3. Evaluate your own office to identify patient safety practices that you manage well and those which you could improve or implement tomorrow.

Description:
Practical office patient safety will be discussed including its definition, culture, major issues, and everyday application of best practices. Major patient safety issues in medical and procedural dermatology include misdiagnosis and delayed diagnosis, correct patient identification, specimen labeling and processing errors, timely and accurate communication of biopsy and laboratory results, wrong site procedures and surgery, infections, medication errors, and the importance of identifying and logging errors and adverse events. Our goal is to provide you with a practical understanding of patient safety issues in order to optimize the highest quality patient care.
