Description:
Film fan? This talk focuses on the overlap between skin and the silver screen. Spanning over 100 years of cinema, examples of cutaneous conditions depicted in movies will be presented, in both still images and video. Movies range from low budget indie flicks to Oscar caliber blockbusters. Updated for 2014, coverage includes adult acne, congenital lesions, infectious disease and neoplasms. The psychosocial implications of the depiction of dermatoses will be explored. Practical examples that can be used for patient education will be emphasized. Popcorn not included.
