  • Discuss trends of cultural sexual practices that lead to skin disease and injury
  • Treat common sexually transmitted infections

Description:
The skin has been referred to as “the largest sex organ in the body." With a boom in the number of articles, journals and books devoted to human sexuality, the complexity and range of sexually transmitted disease and infection are increasingly recognized. Skin disease and injury resulting from ordinary (and occasionally scandalous) sexual practices, customs, and physical modification will be discussed. Some of these skin conditions are common but their etiology is often missed due to reluctance from patient and physician to discuss details of the history. There will also be an update in the diagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted infections.
