Learning Objectives:
Following this course, the attendee should be able to:

  • Describe recent trends and new developments in therapeutics used by general internists.
  • Identify new side effect profiles and uses for existing medications.
  • Recognize concerns and pitfalls when providing dermatologic care to patients on commonly prescribed medications.

Description:
This session will highlight new therapies and treatment paradigms in internal medicine that affect the treatment and management of dermatology patients. A case-based approach will be combined with journal updates from the non-dermatologic literature to familiarize attendees with commonly encountered new therapeutics, including anticoagulants and antibiotics. An update will also be provided on new indications or concerns about existing medications. The session is directed towards general dermatologists and those in training.
