Description:
This focus session includes a concise and clinically focused overview of systemic isotretinoin for acne vulgaris. Attendees will gain an appreciation for selecting suitable candidates for therapy with an emphasis on clinical presentation, contraindications, and side effects. Evidence supporting the use of isotretinoin will be reviewed including new evidence examining alternate dosing strategies. Side effects will be reviewed in detail and participants will gain a thorough understanding of their clinical implications. Evidence surrounding controversial issues including depression and inflammatory bowel disease will be discussed. Patient cases will highlight clinically relevant issues in patient selection, laboratory monitoring, and therapeutic efficacy.
