- Summarize common neoplasms and inflammatory conditions occurring with decorative tattoos.
- Recognize tattoo complications that are clues to systemic disease associations.
- Diagnose and treat atypical mycobacterial infection within tattoos.
Description:
Tattooing for ornamental purposes is increasing in popularity, and with increasing numbers of tattoos comes increasing complications. This session will review tattoo practices, including modern trends in tattoo techniques and ink composition. Cases of neoplastic and inflammatory tattoo complications will be reviewed, with an emphasis on an emerging outbreak of infections with atypical mycobacterium from tattooing.
